Krabi Day 3: Phi Phi Island

Link to:
Day 1: Krabi, here we come
Day 2: Hong Island

(3/6/15) We are smarter this time, got a bigger speedboat with double engines for THB 13,000 for all 11 of us. Today, our boat will be taking us for a day out to the Phi Phi Island.

One group picture before boarding the speedboat

Our first stop is the Bamboo Island which is famous for the powdery white sand, crystal clear water and beautiful coral reefs

Ready to swim and snorkel

The Stones

Mum shoot this. Was amazed at the crystal clear water with colorful fishes swimming around

HOT MAMA!!

Love the clean beach and even love because it was not crowded

After 30 minutes of snorkeling and swimming, we still refused to leave this place

Entering the scenic and beautiful Pi Leh Lagoon

The crowds!

To the next destination, Maya Bay

A dream come true for most people
But just not me

This is Maya Bay when we arrived
The number of Chinese tourists is astonishing.
We felt like we were in Hainan Island rather than one in Thailand

The only one picture I took in Maya Bay
Perhaps, it is too crowded
Or maybe because I haven't watch the famous The Beach film

We had our late lunch at Phi Phi Don after snorkeling me died of boredom in Maya Bay for an hour

Over crowded and over commercialized

Here at a great snorkel site getting ready to jump in

Beautiful corals and a great variety of fish

Eric and Andrew were busy feeding the fish with watermelon

The fish are used to human interactions that they are not afraid of humans anymore

Love this shot of Alice

A quick picture of me before I went up

Sea urchins are very common that you need to watch out constantly where you are stepping
because the water is very shallow
I got pricked in my toes and so is Andrew
Don't say I don't warn you!!

All of us agreed that this is by far the best snorkeling spot because it has a great variety of corals as well as fishes. From all the travel pamphlet that I brought home, I think it is Lohsamah Bay. What made us sad is the fact that the tourism industry like this is going to destroy all the beautiful corals that we had seen. When leaving, we saw the anchor being lifted up and it was hooked on the corals. So practically, the corals were being chopped off during the process. That was one boat. Hundreds of boats anchored here daily as we speak and if this continue, there will be no more beautiful corals for future generations to see. REMEMBER, the rate of destruction on the corals is faster than the rate of growth. We really hope that the government there will take proactive measure to lessen the destruction.

Here is the end of our third day in Krabi.
More adventure in the next part.

Thanks for dropping by
XOXO

p/s: Our boat man advised us to soaked the foot in warm water before gently applying lemon juice to the wound. This is to neutralize the poison. Keep your eyes big and stay away from sea urchins!
