Travel Essentials

I don't usually pack last minute for travelling. I hate last minute jobs. Usually, few days or a week before, I would start listing out things to bring and start packing little by little.  But recently, we travel more often and since I'm having classes till the last day before travelling, I don't really have time to pack. I packed at the very last hours and tend to throw everything in. Our last trip to Phuket, I actually forget to bring few things that are essentials. I figured, I better have this entry on my travel essentials for future use. The next time I travel, I just need to look at this entry. Save time!!

We don't travel to European countries or far far away. Our destinations are usually neighboring countries which are Thailand, Singapore and perhaps, Indonesia (in future). So basically we're still in the hot and humid weather. These travelling essential might be useful to me but not to you. Perhaps it helps if you're planning to travel to Asian countries.

My list!

As you know, we travel to Bangkok mostly for shopping. Here's a tip. Bring only 3 tees maximum. They're enough. You can always buy there and wear them straight. The point of shopping in Bangkok is buying, right? So you don't actually need to bring that much clothes. And you can always wash and wear again. Here is where the soap powder come into use. =D In such a tropical country, your clothes will dry in less than a day. Trust me. We do that every time.

Towel is actually optional. I believe most hotels do actually provide towels for their guests except if you go the really cap pelang one, then no complain la. I prefer bringing my own towel for hygiene purposes. Medicines are a must. It would be handy if you fall sick while travelling. In countries with foreign language, I can guarantee you that you don't want to be stuck in a conversation like a chicken talking to a duck. You can check my 'Going Aboard?' entry on the list of medicines.

When travelling, the most important thing is to stay hydrated. My advice is to bring a water bottle so you can just cook and refill the water. Save money on buying mineral water. Well, obviously you can also buy mineral water la. Your choice. I usually wear sport shoes for travelling because it's comfortable and sometimes bring a spare of old slippers that I can throw it there so I do not need to bring it back again.

Pen is for filling in forms and writing down your expenses (if you have that habit) while UHU gam is for emergency in case your shoes' soles drop off or something. Shampoos, face wash, etc are up to uolls. Well, it is not really necessary since some hotels do provide toothbrush, shampoo, body wash and toothpaste. If you left your face wash, you can always buy there. But it may not be the brand you are using. Beggars can't be choosers. Yoko yoko is a MUST especially after a whole day of non-stop walking. You'll thanked me for this.

I actually have a daily entry pending on my drafts but I'm out of ideas to finish it. So I figured I better have this entry up first. We don't wanna have too many drafts pending on the list, do we? Mum and the rest came to KL for 3 days and I'm going to meet with them tomorrow, after my Algebra class. I'm happy that they come but at the same time, I'm sad. I just managed to drop a kilo after coming back from Phuket and now, we're going for food hunt again. How I wish I have a higher metabolism rate. I'm totally jealous of those who eats like pigs and don't gain anything. Lucky bitches!!

Before I go travelling or back hometown, I have this habit of cleaning up my room. I love the feeling of coming back to a perfectly clean room. The happiness or satisfaction that I simply can't explain in words. After 6 months of living here, I never actually moped my room except for some wipes here and there with wet clothes when there's liquid spill. Tonight, to the extend, I actually cleaned my room. Swept the floors and even moped them!! I'm happy to say that my room is as clean as a whistle now. I realized that I never actually take photos of my room before. Just gonna post this 360 degree of my room to end this entry.

Yeah, my room is this small only. It's quite pricey for such a small room with such a bad view.

Thanks for reading.
Bye!!

It's 4 am so you know what, fuck the grammars!!

Phuket 101 - Part 1

I always thought that Phuket is all about beaches, sun-bathing, beautiful scenery, nice food etc. When Mum told me that we're going to Phuket for 5 days (including 2 days for travelling), I was like, "So long? What can we do there?" I take back my words. There are actually lots of things to do there. In fact, 5 days are not enough. We went to Phuket on 28 May, just nice as school holidays just started. Before we fly to Phuket, there's this little incident that almost prevent me from going to Phuket. Apparently, my passport is less than 6 months validity and I cannot travel out. Mum did not notice this till Tuesday when they're checking in and mine cannot pass thru AirAsia's system. I freaked out! Obviously, the first thing I do was to check on the net. So I came upon this website that said, I can. I was relieved for a moment.

It says there that there no longer such requirements. BULLSHIT!! Let me tell you something, "YOU CANNOT ENTER THAILAND WITH PASSPORT LESS THAN 6 MONTHS VALIDITY!!". This has been confirmed by the Imigresen officer. Even if you pass Malaysian Imigresen, Thai Imigresen will still detain you from entering. If you're saying, the validity is only less few days, I don't think you wanna take the risk. Remember, you will be at the mercy of the Thai officers there. If they are as stubborn as mule, you will need to fly straight back or worst, being detain there. I don't think it's a risk worth taking especially when you just need an hour to renew your passport.

So with much hustle, Great Tiger was asking around, talked to the Imigresen officer and  finally arranged for me to go to the nearest Imigresen office to renew it the very next day. The nearest was Kajang Imigresen Office which opens at 7 am. Mum came down to KL that very night with my documents. She reached at 5 am in the morning and we went straight to Kajang. Things went smoothly. Credits goes to the taxi driver that I've known who took mum from the bus station to my place and from my place to the Imigresen office. He also waited for almost an hour for the passport to be done and then again, from Kajang, he fetched us all the way to KLIA 2. Also, not forgetting, the Imigresen officers who have been so helpful and understanding. Much gratitude.

We managed to reach KLIA 2 at 9. Our flight to Phuket was at 12.45 pm. Me and mum actually waited 30 minutes for the rest to reach from KT. Well, KLIA 2 was indeed very big. Lots of tourists and shops to shop. It was so big that one might lose in there. Had our lunch in this very restaurant which is quite pricey. It was RM 20.00 for 2 plates of with rice with fried chicken only. But what do you expect right? They need to cover their cost, rental etc. Since it's new, it was quite boloq. There was two scanning counters. First was on the Imigresen side and the second one was on the airport. Why the hell do we need to line up twice? One would probably says for security reasons. But let me tell you, on the first scanning, the officers don't even look at the screen. They was chatting around! Waste of resources.

Our flight got delay for almost 45 minutes so technically we cam-whore at the waiting area. It was bad enough that the numbers of toilets available are not enough to accommodate all the passengers. Imagine there's only 3 stalls in a toilet. You practically need to queue till the front door and wait for at least 15 minutes before your turn. The worst was there was no enough seating at the waiting area so almost half of the passengers were sitting on the floors. HORRIBLE!! And you called this 'International Airport'. Heh!

Landed in Phuket at 2 pm local time. Blame it on the luck. We waited another hour for Imigresen clearing. Can you imagine? An hour? As many as 6 flights landed at the same time so it explains the congestion. Phuket was so famous that there are at least 3 flights landed every hour. We got frustrated and tired of waiting that it dampened our holiday's moods. Finished clearing at 3 so we decided to wait for Dylan who's coming straight from Singapore. While waiting, the rest was checking on the tours available. It was almost 4 when we finally get into the mini van to bring us to Burasari Resort, a 4 stars resort in Patong Beach.

Had our Phuket tours booked here!

Another group shot!

The one thing that annoyed me to no end about Phuket was the travelling journey. It took us an hour journey from the airport to Patong Beach. Patong Beach is more like at the other side of Phuket. You need to cross the hill in order to get there. Of course, nowadays you don't technically hiked the hills when you have road and cars. But imagine 50 years back? Some said money can't buy happiness. It is indeed true. But without money, there is no happiness too. How to enjoy such a lavish life without money? How to travel around and see the world without money? Lets face the sad truth, without money, there's no happiness too.

With the rest of my siblings!
We're served with the welcome drinks while waiting for the adults to settle on the rooms.

Since it was late evening already that time, we went out at 6 pm for our dinner. Along the roadside, there are lots of restaurants selling different kinds of seafood for you to ravish. We settled upon this very restaurant after 30 minutes of walking. Too hungry to look much further. I was so hungry and tired that I don't even know what restaurant is that but I love the decoration of the restaurant. One thing that I love about Thais is their details on their buildings. Their buildings have such a fine details that awed everyone.

While waiting for the food to be served

If you happen to come across this restaurant too, the food was nice and affordable. We ordered quite a lot of dishes here. The best would reserved for the desserts. Top on the chart, fried banana fritters.

Fried crab dumpling *thumbs up

Fried grouper, I think.

Green curry which is not to my liking

Spare ribs which was too spongy?

Is that asparagus (I don't know anything about vegie) with prawns
In case you haven't figure out, I only ate the prawns

Stir fried spinach. This one I know coz rabbits eat these types of vegie

After dinner, we went to Bangla Road. Our eyes are totally not virgin anymore here! There are so much things to see and explore here. The whole stretch of road are filled with strippers, pole dancers and lady boys. This is also a place to find a quick and steamy sex. But be careful thou, don't want you to be mistaken as gay as the lady boys are as beautiful as the ladies. Open your eyes bigger!! No offense but this is my personal opinion. I find it disgusting to see the pole dancers on the poles. Yeah, they're not professionals coz they're just twisting around awkwardly at the poles with old, horny customers (the ones with big, protruding belly and bald heads) sticking money into their panties expecting cheers from the crowds. My my. Dylan almost got pulled by the lady boys there. Hahaha.

As much as I'm not comfortable being there, I'm still fascinate at the pubs there. The deco are amazing! Just can't describe it. And the picture below probably give the credits they deserved but that's the best I can find.

Walked back to our resort after Bangla Road but before that, stopped to get some supper!

Banana with chocolate pancake!
A must when in Phuket

There are lots of stalls beside the road selling this but this particular stall near our resort was the best. It was THBT 60. Too good that I came back again on our last night there. I would say it's a mixture of roti canai with banana topped with chocolate and creamer. I was disappointed that I managed to get 2 bites only that I went in a search frenzy to find the recipe after I came back. I'm glad to say I found the recipe. Will be sharing the recipe with uolls when I successfully recreated the pancake.

Took me a sold 2 hours to write this entry. It's almost 6 am already here in Malaysia. Hope your patience paid off. I'm suppose to sleep or better revise on my Computing Mid-term which will be on this Tuesday since I screwed the test but instead I spent my time on this entry. Well done, Karen. You deserve an applause! This is just Day 1. More coming up on Day 2 and 3. Till then, be happy!

Thanks for dropping by!

p/s: If there's grammar mistake, by all means please ignore it. Got no time to spare for checking and proof reading again.

Ranting All I Want

Tomorrow is Wednesday which means, FREE DAY!! I purposely left Wed empty just in case I wanna skip class and went back hometown. Finding pathetic excuse to blog rather than revising my bio notes. Gonna regret this once my result is out later. But till then, let's just have this entry up.
I don't want to mumble and complain this on Twitter. Who know someone might complain behind my back again for spamming their Twitter wall? There's incident once on that. Shall not talk about it anymore since we've reconciled. But here's my space, my blog so I think I have that privilege to complain all I want and if you don't like it, don't read it. Blogs are so not meant to be read by friends. Hell, I wish my friends never know my blog exist. I can foresee troubles when that happens. *finger crossed Before that, go take ear buds to block your ears. Don't say I don't warn you.

First, let me introduce you to Mr James, our Bio lecture who technically new in UCSI. He gave us assignment on inherited disease to do in groups. I tahan this so long already and I beh tahan liao. Since he loves to talk, Mr James finds that it's impossible for him to finish the syllabus so he make  us to go as early as 7.30 in the morning to class. 30 minutes earlier. Actually, I don't mind that as it benefits me as well. Well, it turns out that in that total 2 hours class, he gave break for as long as 45 minutes. Seriously? 45 minutes? Then what's the purpose of me coming early? Not to blame him but since it's his first time teaching as a lecture, he actually plans so much for us for just 3 months class. I find that his lecture notes are full with details that are particularly not important and trust me, it's too much. I regretted for giving all my notes to Christine when I left KBU. I find the notes Ms Kong gave are much better than those in UCSI.

As for the assignment, the disease that we've got is cystic fibrosis. In short it is an inherited disease where the child obtain the recessive gene from both of the parents. If the child is male, he just need a copy of that gene whereas a female can be either a carrier or a patient. Perhaps this explain why males have higher risk of inheriting the inherited diseases such as cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, hemophilia and many more. This is because they just need a copy of the gene. Cystic fibrosis is where thick mucus are produced which then clogs ducts and passageways. It is a life threating disease. Imagine having the mucus blocks your trachea. You might have difficulty in breathing which lead to shortness of breath and in more serious cases, death.

So we're required to make a poster out with introduction, causes, sign and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and conclusion all in ONE page. And this is what we first produced.

Frankly speaking, I'm not satisfied with it. It looks out of place. Not nice. Just doesn't look like a poster.  So we meet up again on Friday to discuss about it coz Mr James gave us a list of his opinions on the poster. When we met up, those bunch don't have any clue on how to improve it. I'm not complementing myself but since I'm bored with their attitude and wanted to end the discussion quickly, I actually volunteer to do it.  No point of wasting another hour sitting in the library if they're just gonna stare blankly into heaven.

Hi XXX,

I didn’t see much alteration form earlier beside the so-called DNA (but look like a worm. If you want to use human anatomy picture explain the physiological changes, please find figure with labeled abnormal condition for example which part/what of GI tract is affected by C.F. for example. Even better if you label it yourself.

You can always add more (resize it to small figure) showing real human affected body to attract people to read your poster. And since this assignment is related to genetic disease, at least add a bit more on that part. Recessive or dominant?

And the purpose of assignment is actually for the student to include slightly more in-depth/details. But not too much. So far yours . Eh.... you know.

I am not checking your fact now. That’s where the marking counts.

Ps you too can add inheritance- if the mother and father one is carrier or diseased – what is the possible outcome for their children.
Think.

Enjoy.

I went back home and straight into the job. Actually, I was having my dinner while doing the poster. It actually only took me about 20 minutes to come out with an entirely new poster which I'm half satisfied. Took some pictures from the net, did some changes and there you have an entirely new poster. I do admit it was quite messy with the wordings. How am I suppose to include all the needed details in a single page? I find that quite a challenge to resize the wording by taking into consideration that we still need to present it. So here's my poster.

Nice ma?

It's better that the first one hor? You better say yes. If no is your answer, you can go jump the sea and die. Muahaha. On our presentation day, this very poster obtained lots of complements. Perhaps it's because there's a cartoon picture. Cartoon do attracts attentions. Shh.. Don't tell anyone but this is my secret weapon. But, shamelessly, she claimed all the credits. Fuck her!! Let me tell you something in case that you're not aware with, I did this poster all alone! Thou I'm not claiming for credits (not as low and pathetic as her), you still can't go parade the whole town with something that's not yours. That is so wrong.

Anyway, since this is mine work, their (the rest of the group members) presentation is 'not okay'. No one can present work of yours better than yourself. Therefore, they can't actually claim the praise. Hahaha. But then there's no marks for presentation la. Sometimes,  I wonder what Mr James is thinking. He asked us to present but there's no marks for it. So what's the purpose of presenting? Too much free time ah? As far as I know, we only have less than 2 months left to finish at least 4 more chapters. Personally, I don't think he can finish it lo.

As for my presentation, I'm not happy about my performance either. I was so nervous that I keep stuttering. The hell? I acted as if this was my very first presentation. Goddess, I've done lots of solo presentations in KBU. Urghh. Was so disappointed with myself. =(

Thanks for dropping in!!

p/s: One probably wonder why it's wed. I wrote this on wed but was so busy to finish it. Decided to get it done today while waiting to drift off. =D

Wattpad

I don't know whether to be happy or cry on my reading speed. Now that I've finished the story, I need to find a new one. Just finished reading Wingless and Beautiful this morning. Was so sad when I reach the epilogue part. I was like, "Why is the story so short? I need a Part 2". It's difficult to find such a good story with proper grammar and good storyline on Wattpad. In case you don't know what a Wattpad is (which is very lousy of you), Wattpad is a online reading community where people across the globe share their passion for writing on Wattpad and for people, like me (the cheapskate ones who don't want to spend money on buying books) to read on free time. This means that anybody can write as long as they have that time and passion thou their creativity and language are lacking. Not to say anybody.

The sad truth about Wattpad and me is that I often found great stories on my exam weeks. Sipek frustrated. But then, the story is really really good that I don't mind spending the whole night reading it just to finish the story and go to class like a zombie or even better, fail my test. The A-list authors that I really really love on Wattpad is Sinaidkincaid16, Jerileekaye, AerithSage, Emika_Hoshi and many more la. You don't expect me to remember all kua. I delete their story after finished reading it. All their stories are so so amazing that you just need to read them all.

Here's some. Sinaidkincaid16's stories are amazing coz she can bring you to different perspectives thru her stories. I love her works coz she had written in a medical point, business point, architect point and most recently which is currently still ongoing is from army force of view. Her main characters came from different jobs of line. What's more amazing is that she can explain to the very detail of their jobs. Jerileekaye is the recent author who I came across. Just finished her Wingless and Beautiful. It's a story based on two imperfect couples who came across each other under certain circumferences. It's a story which I find worth reading. I'm not sure about you, thou. The one thing that I'm not happy with her is that I don't have free full access to her Knight in Shining Suit. Apparently she has published that particular work of hers in ebook form which means $$$. I'm still finding lubang to that story. I might one day pay to get my eyes on the story and don't be surprise.

*double thumbs up

As for AerithSage whose from Philippines, the series that I'm so obsessed with is the Myths Finding Love. In short, it's about greek mythology about how Greek gods fell in love. Her series include How to be A Queen, How I Feel For Death and the one that keep me waiting day and night, How to Reform A Rake. If you're into a mafia but still on cliché love story, Emika_Hoshi would be your favorite author. Her Gavino series are to die for. I remember reading them when I was in my second semester in KBU and yeap, it was final week that time.

I came across Wattpad two years back when I've just gotten my phone and my first completed story was introduced by Sofea. That time we were heads over heels over Wattpad's stories. I can't remember the title already but it was also being published on ebook form already. I do came across the story from time to time. Those days where we went to class, instead of studying, we discuss on which is the best stories. Time flies. Now, I don't even know how many stories and hours I've been on Wattpad. I no longer buy books to read. All because of Wattpad. What's the use of buying when I can have the same standard here in Wattpad (thou it need a little effort to search for the authors).

Time to Heal by RaziaSultana is also a good one. Take a look and you'll might like it. There's a lot. I can't really list all the good ones out. You just need to figure it out by yourself.

***
My mind suddenly goes blank after I saw the clock showed 12.10 am. I suppose to clean up and sleep by 12 coz I have morning class tomorrow. Kay. That's all. Bye. Shall re-edit this entry if I have the time for that but I doubt so.

Thanks for dropping by.
If you haven't download Wattpad, go have a try.
Just remember to thank me later =D

Challenge Accepted

Hola! I'm back! *grins For starters, Phuket was beyond amazing. There's no word to describe it. Probably, my English is lacking off. Hence the lack of words. But I don't care. Came back last Sunday. 5 days flew past just like that. Mum probably spent thousands on those 5 days but it is still not enough! I shall not say more on Phuket trip coz I wanna make an entry about it. I even have the title figure out already. It would be "Phuket 101". The only thing holds me from doing that entry right now is the fact that I don't have photos to feed uolls. Our superb Canon camera which probably ain't superb anymore broke down on our first day in Phuket. The lens can't retract back. Damn camera for failing my plans to capture the beautiful sceneries of Phuket. We, by all means, Great Tiger and Aunty Poh Tin and us are all Canon's faithful users but sad to say the camera or probably the model or better the brand really disappoint us coz apparently we're not the only ones facing the problems with retracting the lens. Urghh. Such a pain in an ass. Might consider a change in brand for our next holiday to Bangkok by the end of the year. Will be reading much reviews on Nikon, Samsung and many more before the next purchase. Gonna make every penny worth this time. Any recommendations on good cameras??

I was sick for the past 3 days. It only gets better yesterday. Constant vomiting and headaches. It was so difficult to get sleep at night. The worst would be in the morning, walking to class like a drunk man with rumbling stomach pain and trying to pay attention in class. This is one of the time where one miss home terribly. Miss the feeling of someone being there for you, care for you while you're sick. Weird enough, I also miss Xiao Ai very much thou technically he can't feed me with medicine when I'm sick. At least, by seeing him, when I'm sick makes me feel better. *sobs sobs Enough of that. I'm sounding more like a sad, pathetic old lady who keeps whining on something absolute. The others are all fine so I don't think it's the exhaustion. It would probably be the meal I ate on Monday that triggers it all. The chicken I microwaved was not fully cooked. I'm fully aware of that but at that time I was like, "Heh. No problem. I ate undercook chicken all the time at home." It was after few hours of that meal that I vomited and came the headaches. Blame it on the chicken! I'm so terrified that I dare not look at the rest of the chicken again in the fridge. Wondering how to clear that piece of junk off without wasting it.

Sat for Computing test this afternoon. One word, DEAD! Moment where you stared blankly at the question paper and looking into the air hoping for the light bulb in your head to brighten. It's not fair to say that I expected much better when I just did my revision and studies on Wed's night. Yeah, I'm that lazy since coming back from Phuket. Do you really expect me to remember those digital terms all in one night? Might call me a saint if I manage to do that. There are probably hundreds of terms to memorize. It would be a miracle if I didn't ended in Tanjung Rambutan by the end of this semester. I have this sudden hatred for technologies, the Internet and anything that has to do with the subject. If we don't have it, we don't use it. And if we don't use it, I do not need to learn about it. We're using computers, laptops, mobile devices and the Internet daily every hours for whatever purposes. But do you know that IP address correspond to domain name and that there's two IP addressing schemes which are IPv4 and IPv6 due to the growth of the internet. Also do you know what's the original purpose of the Internet? The Internet originated as ARPANET with two main goals which are to allow scientists at different locations to share information and work together and function even if part of the network were disabled or destroyed by disaster. So thanks to scientists, we got what we called the Internet today. Come to think about it, I think everyone should learn Computing Essential. Hahaha. Just for the sake to suffer together with me..

These two weeks will be a busy week again. There's Bio test, Algebra test, Chemistry test and another Computing mid-term in line. It will all pay off when Mum and the rest visit me when I'm done with it all. Shall brace it with dignity! Today, as of 5 June, I make a promise to myself to loss another 5kg by the end of the year. Another challenge to go. I aimed for 65kg thou I'm no actually 70 kg now. Thanks to Phuket for those add ons. It's time to get back to oats, soup and steamed food. Wish me luck. This is a challenge for me as last year I went to Bangkok after losing 5 kg and this year round I want to go to Bangkok with another 5 kg off. Super determined! It's 15 minutes past 10 pm. Am waiting for Mum to log in Skype. I wish to continue this further but there's piles of work load waiting for me. That's my que. I gotta sign off from here. Bye.

Thanks for dropping by.

p/s: You can probably have a sneak peak on our Phuket holidays on my instagram corner on the left while waiting for the full entry. Be patient please, will you?
